Rudolf Burcl
studied physical chemistry at Charles University in Prague, where he earned M.Sc. in 1992
under the direction of Pavel Hobza.  He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Oakland University in 1999 under the
direction of Malgorzata M. Szczesniak for theoretical studies of interactions in van der Waals complexes.
After postdoctoral appointments at Michigan State University with Piotr Piecuch and at University of Cambridge
with Nicholas C. Handy he joined Marshall University in 2004.  His research interests focus on theoretical studies of
structure, properties, and reactivity in variety of chemically interesting systems.  These include studies of effects
of entrance channel complexes on reactivity of small molecules with hydroxyl radical; investigation of many-body effects
in hydrophobic interactions in methane hydrates; and studies of spectroscopy of diazobenzene-based fluorescent dyes.
